Talk Saves Lives: The first step on the path to suicide prevention and support

In honor of Suicide Awareness Month, the DMH SEA Board is sponsoring this event to highlight the importance of engaging with people who may be experiencing hopelessness and thoughts of self-harm.

About the event

Participants will learn how our thinking about suicide and suicide prevention has evolved; the importance of basic and empathic human connection that we all can provide; effective models for making connections with young people and adults who may be having thoughts of self-harm; and about resources and training that can be effective in preventing suicide.


Panelists include:

  • Kristina Walters; DMH Certified Peer Specialist

  • Kim Mead-Walters; Co-Founder and Executive Director, Sharing Kindness

  • Lisa Sugarman; Board Member, Samaritans Southcoast; 3x suicide loss survivor; founder of the HELPHUB; author of Surviving: Finding Hope After Suicide Loss; co-host of the Survivors Podcast
